Shorewood teacher awarded fellowship to travel to Japan to learn about their economic system
Damon Oliveto, a teacher at Shorewood High School, has been awarded a 2025 Keizai Koho Center Teacher Fellowship to explore Japan's economy and society. His trip is scheduled for late June to early July and includes visits to schools, businesses, and industrial facilities. During his eight-day stay, Oliveto will participate in discussions with educators and business leaders. He aims to enhance his AP Economics curriculum by incorporating real-world insights into different economic policies. Oliveto noted that learning directly from Japanese business and government leaders will make his teaching more engaging.
The Keizai Koho Center, established in 1978, serves as a platform for the Japanese business community to interact with global stakeholders. This fellowship not only provides professional development but also fosters cultural exchange and understanding. Oliveto's participation highlights the importance of global perspectives in education.
