Shoreline, WALocal News

The City of Lake Forest Park Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing on May 13, 2025, regarding proposed amendments to the Municipal Code focused on middle housing and accessory dwelling units. This initiative aligns with Washington’s new legislation aimed at enhancing housing diversity and affordability in Tier 3 cities. The public hearing is scheduled for 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall. Residents can provide feedback during the session or submit written comments beforehand. The City has completed an environmental review and anticipates issuing a Determination of Nonsignificance for the changes.

Topics for discussion include definitions, zoning classifications, and regulations for accessory dwelling units. Following the hearing, the Planning Commission will recommend the amendments to the City Council. Future hearings will provide additional opportunities for public engagement on these proposed changes.
