Filing week for November elections May 5 - 9, 2025

Shoreline, WALocal News

Filing week for local elections in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park begins on May 5, 2025, and ends on May 9, 2025. On the ballot for Shoreline's School Board are incumbents Emily Williams and Sarah Cohen, while the City Council features four contested seats, including an open position following John Ramsdell's announcement not to seek re-election. Jack Malek has declared his candidacy for the open council seat, which is crucial for maintaining a diverse representation on the council. In Lake Forest Park, five council seats are available, with Tracy Furutani as the only incumbent announcing a re-election bid thus far. The fifth seat is currently vacant due to the passing of Deputy Mayor Lorri Bodi, and Mark Muilenberg is running for that position.

An interim will fill this vacancy until the election winner assumes office in 2026. All residents of both cities are eligible to run for council positions, promoting inclusivity in local governance. The outcome of these elections will shape local policies and community representation for years to come.
