Shoreline could get a Pump Track on the Interurban Trail

Shoreline, WALocal News

Shoreline is poised to purchase a vacant 1. 35-acre lot at 14925 Aurora to develop a BMX pump track, enhancing public park space in the area. This site, located along the Interurban Trail and next to Seattle Ski and Snowboard, responds to the community's need for more recreational facilities as outlined in the Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Arts Plan. The land was previously intended for a 258-unit apartment building, but that project fell through due to pandemic-related financing challenges. Funding for the acquisition is planned through Park Impact Fees, with a $1 million grant application submitted to the state.

An independent appraisal has established the fair market value of the property at $4. 4 million. The initiative also aims to support local businesses that wish to expand bike-related services. The city has faced challenges with unsheltered encampments on the property, highlighting the need for redevelopment. The Shoreline city council will consider the purchase proposal during a public meeting on May 5.
