Shoreline, WALocal News

Washington Governor Jay Inslee has announced that flags will be lowered to half-staff on May 3-4, 2025, to honor the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. This directive allows agencies to lower flags at the close of business on May 2, 2025. The memorial service recognizes the bravery and sacrifices of firefighters who have died while serving their communities. Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset on May 4 or the following morning. Other government entities, businesses, and individuals are invited to participate in this recognition.

The observance aims to raise awareness of the sacrifices made by first responders. Governor Inslee’s office encourages public engagement through inquiries sent to FlagDirectives@gov. wa. gov. Such actions reflect the state’s commitment to honoring those who dedicate their lives to public safety.
