South County Fire rescues man marooned on rock in water near Edmonds

Shoreline, WALocal News

On April 27, 2025, a concerned resident near Edmonds spotted a man stranded on a rock as rising tides threatened to engulf him. The resident promptly called 911, leading to a swift response from the Coast Guard and South County Fire's Marine 16. The rescue team successfully retrieved the man, who declined medical transport after being evaluated at the Marina. He had traveled to Snohomish County by light rail and bus and was unfamiliar with the area. Community Resource Paramedics provided essential support, offering warm clothing, food, and a cold-weather kit before arranging his return to the light rail station.

This incident demonstrates the critical role that local residents play in emergency situations and the effectiveness of the emergency response system. South County Fire praised the resident for their quick actions, highlighting community vigilance. Such responsiveness can save lives, especially in unpredictable conditions like rising tides.
