Beza Mersa has been awarded the prestigious UW Presidential Scholarship, which offers $10,000 annually, alongside her acceptance into the highly regarded Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. This recognition is a testament to her dedication, particularly impressive given that only 20 students are selected from 70,000 applicants each year. Shorecrest High School is celebrating this achievement, marking back-to-back years of scholarship recipients. Shorecrest College and Career Counselor Mario Orallo, along with Beza's teachers and principal, were present to honor her accomplishments during the award presentation.

The event also featured Beza's mother, who expressed her joy and pride in her daughter's success. With the University of Washington's admissions decisions forthcoming, this accolade serves as an inspiration for other students. The scholarship not only supports Beza’s academic journey but also highlights the importance of hard work and resilience in achieving one’s goals. Shorecrest High School continues to foster an environment that cultivates exceptional talent and ambition among its students.
