King County Council votes to confirm Shannon Braddock as acting Executive

Shoreline, WALocal News

The King County Council has appointed Shannon Braddock as the acting King County Executive, following the resignation of Dow Constantine, who is transitioning to the CEO role at Sound Transit. Braddock has been with the Executive's Office since 2017 and has served in multiple capacities, including Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff. Since her appointment as Deputy Executive in June 2023, she has played a key role in advising on policy development and government relations. "I am honored to serve as Acting County Executive and appreciate the council’s support today," Braddock stated, highlighting her commitment to residents. Her appointment was made possible by an executive order from Constantine, ensuring she had the necessary powers immediately.

The council will soon select a permanent Executive, who could either be Braddock or another candidate. This decision is crucial as the appointed Executive will serve until a successor is elected in November. Braddock's extensive experience positions her well to manage the transition and continue delivering essential services to the community.
