Construction at Upper Hamlin Park coming soon

Shoreline, WALocal News

Construction at Upper Hamlin Park is poised to begin on March 24, 2025, marking a significant transformation for the eastern ballfield, which will close permanently. The city plans to upgrade this area into Briarcrest Park, with Ballfield 5 remaining open during this process. Residents should anticipate temporary disruptions to parking and access, especially when a new accessible ramp is constructed along 25th Avenue NE. While the park is currently referred to as "Upper Hamlin" or "Briarcrest," an official naming process will take place later this year, coinciding with the appointment of new members to the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services/Tree Board. The project promises to enhance community facilities, with plans for a new playground and splash pad to be completed by spring 2026.

This upgrade reflects the city’s commitment to improving recreational spaces for its residents. The proposed changes aim to create a more inclusive and engaging environment for families and visitors alike. As the construction date approaches, community members are encouraged to stay informed about the developments and participate in the naming process.
