During the conversation, Forbes recounted a harrowing experience during convoy duty, emphasizing how three Stuka dive bombers came alarmingly close to his ship. "The bombs were so close that they had to have scraped the paint off the side of the ship," he recalled, showcasing his vivid memories of the war. The Commander expressed appreciation for hearing such personal accounts, which bring history to life in a unique way.

Additionally, Forbes received a letter from Admiral Sir Ben Key, the First Sea Lord, honoring his service and contributions to the Navy.
