Exploring possibilities for a Shoreline pool facility

Shoreline, WALocal News

The City of Shoreline is taking steps to explore the possibility of a new public indoor pool facility, potentially putting a ballot measure before voters in the near future. This initiative comes in response to significant community interest voiced over the years, particularly following the closure of the old Shoreline Pool in 2020. The former pool had been a staple for over two decades but faced increasing maintenance costs that ultimately rendered it unsustainable. A feasibility study conducted prior to its closure highlighted the need for a modern facility that meets local recreational demands. In 2019, a bond measure to fund a larger community center was supported by a majority of voters but fell short of the necessary 60% approval.

The City Council is now focusing on refining plans based on ongoing community feedback, ensuring that any new facility aligns with public expectations and financial considerations. As the initiative progresses, the City aims to bridge the gap left by the previous pool's closure and enhance overall community wellness. The engagement process underscores the importance of local input in shaping public amenities.
