Exploring possibilities for a Shoreline pool facility

Shoreline, WALocal News

The City of Shoreline is actively considering a ballot measure to create a new public indoor pool facility, responding to a strong community interest in enhanced recreational amenities. This initiative follows the closure of the Shoreline Pool in 2020, which had become financially unviable due to rising maintenance costs and equipment deterioration. Community feedback collected through various outreach efforts indicated a clear desire for a new facility that could meet local recreational demands. In 2019, a bond measure to fund a larger pool and community center received 54% approval but fell short of the required 60%. The city aims to better align the new proposal with both community needs and fiscal responsibility, ensuring that taxpayers are not overburdened.

This renewed exploration underscores the city's commitment to providing recreational services, especially after the loss of the previous pool. By engaging residents and seeking their input, the city hopes to foster a sense of ownership and support for the new facility. Ultimately, this effort could significantly enhance the quality of life for Shoreline residents.
