The Western District of Washington has set a new record by collecting over $1. 5 billion in criminal and civil actions during Fiscal Year 2024, with a significant contribution from cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which agreed to pay for its violations of money laundering laws. Gorman noted that this payment is part of a broader $4. 3 billion in criminal fines and forfeitures related to Binance's guilty pleas. The district's efforts also yielded $3. 8 million in restitution from various tax fraud cases, showcasing its commitment to financial accountability. Civil actions resulted in $8.

8 million in collections, including $217,000 from a healthcare fraud settlement involving Dr. Frank Li. The U. S. Attorney’s Office plays a crucial role in enforcing restitution for victims and collecting debts owed to the government, further enhancing public trust in the justice system.

Additionally, the district collected $2. 86 million in asset forfeiture actions, which will be used to benefit crime victims and law enforcement efforts.
