On February 14, 2025, the Shorewood girls wrestling team competed in the 3A District 1 Wrestling Tournament in Oak Harbor, achieving a notable 4th place finish after a week-long postponement due to snow. Senior Libby Norton successfully defended her district title with a dramatic win, while junior Ellie Van Horn's inspiring comeback through the consolation bracket secured her a spot at the State Championship. Coach Norton emphasized the value of having Finley Houck back in action, as her experience proved crucial for the team's performance. Aly Fellores wrestled fiercely to earn a 2nd place finish, narrowly missing the title, while Abi Chishungu's solid effort resulted in a 4th place finish. Coach Brady Houck praised the team's resilience, particularly highlighting the impressive "redemption tour" by Van Horn, who overcame earlier setbacks to dominate her matches.

The tournament allowed the top 10 wrestlers in each weight class to advance to the State Tournament, reflecting the competitive nature of the event. The team's strong showing not only boosts morale but also sets a promising tone for future competitions. With multiple girls advancing to the state level, the Shorewood wrestling program continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence.
