Skandia March dances and lessons

Shoreline, WALocal News

Skandia is hosting two exciting dance events in Lynnwood, WA, on March 7 and March 21, where participants can learn traditional Scandinavian dances and enjoy live music from talented orchestras. The first event will feature the dance Bakmes från Hede, a unique variant from Härjedalen, Sweden, taught by Harry Khamis and Pat Pi. On March 21, Judy and Jerry will lead the elegant Bingsjöpolskor, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Dalarna, Sweden. Both events are held at Cedar Valley Grange and are priced affordably at $15, with a discount for Skandia members. In addition to these events, a free Beginner Scandinavian dance class is available every Monday until June 9, promoting inclusivity and accessibility for all interested.

Participants are encouraged to wear smooth-soled shoes and follow health guidelines, including mask-wearing. This initiative not only fosters dance skills but also strengthens community bonds through shared cultural experiences. With a focus on tradition and community engagement, Skandia’s events are a delightful way to celebrate Scandinavian culture in the Pacific Northwest.
