Shorelines Second Annual Where Our Wildlife Is Backyard Habitat Tour, Saturday, July 9

Shoreline, WALocal News

Shoreline is set to host the Second Annual "Where Our Wildlife Is" Backyard Habitat Tour on Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 10 am to 3 pm, highlighting the importance of wildlife-friendly gardening. Sponsored by a City of Shoreline environmental mini-grant, this free event will take place in the Briarcrest and Ridgecrest neighborhoods, where attendees can explore certified backyard wildlife habitats. Visitors can pick up a tour guide and map at Briarcrest Elementary School, facilitating an engaging experience as they visit various participating gardens. The inaugural tour last year was highly successful, and this year's event will feature even more exciting habitats. Organized by the Shoreline Habitat Stewards in partnership with the National Wildlife Federation, the tour aims to promote community involvement and awareness of local wildlife conservation efforts.

Attendees are encouraged to learn how to certify their own yards as wildlife habitats, fostering a sense of stewardship for the environment. The event also provides an opportunity for residents to connect with one another over shared interests in gardening and wildlife protection. Overall, the tour exemplifies how community initiatives can effectively contribute to biodiversity and environmental education.
