Boat Fire in Lake Forest Park

Shoreline, WALocal News

A significant boat fire occurred on May 30, 2012, in Lake Forest Park, Washington, when the Northshore Fire Department was dispatched to a trailered boat engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a large black plume of smoke, which raised concerns due to the boat's proximity to an apartment building. Their prompt response effectively contained the fire, preventing any damage to surrounding properties. The boat, a 1988 Bayliner Trophy, was being worked on by the owner approximately 30 minutes before the fire was noticed by a nearby maintenance worker. Witnesses driving along NE Bothell Way alerted authorities through multiple 911 calls, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among firefighters or civilians. The fire resulted in a total loss of the vessel, with damages estimated at $16,000, attributed to accidental wiring problems. This incident highlights the importance of rapid response in preventing potential disasters in residential areas.
