Lynnwood Link Extension Project (North Corridor Transit Project)

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Lynnwood Link Extension Project is an essential component of Sound Transit’s efforts to enhance public transportation in the North Corridor. The Sound Transit Board recently identified several proposed routes and station locations for the project, which will connect Northgate to the Lynnwood Transit Center. Key station locations under consideration include NE 130th Street, NE 145th Street, and Lynnwood Transit Center, with a focus on running along the I-5 corridor. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) is scheduled for publication in spring 2013, evaluating potential impacts and mitigation strategies. Community involvement has been robust, with nearly 500 residents engaging in outreach sessions to express their views on the project.

The DEIS process reflects Sound Transit’s commitment to minimizing negative effects while maximizing the benefits of enhanced public transit. The initiative stems from the Sound Transit 2 expansion plan, which was approved by voters in 2008, aiming for completion by 2023. This project not only aims to improve accessibility but also addresses critical transportation needs in the region.
