Shorewood grad and SCC grad are Outstanding Graduates at Western Washington University

Western Washington University honored its Outstanding Graduates for the 2015-16 academic year during the spring Commencement ceremony on June 11, recognizing the exceptional achievements of two local graduates, Kyle White and Stephen Ateser. Kyle White, a Shorewood High School alumnus, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and was recognized as the Outstanding Graduate of his program. His leadership on the Formula SAE Team and a successful internship at Hexcel Corporation showcased his practical application of engineering principles. Notably, White also passed the Manufacturing Technology Certification exam with the highest score recorded at Western. Stephen Ateser, who graduated from Shoreline Community College, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and was selected as the Outstanding Graduate in the Design Department as well as the Student Commencement Speaker.

His contributions included designing Western’s student magazine and serving as the lead designer for the Associated Students Publicity Center. Ateser’s internships and workshops demonstrate his commitment to using design for social impact. Both graduates represent the strong educational foundation provided by their local institutions and their potential to influence future innovations in their respective fields.
