Become a Community Emergency Response Team member

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Northshore Emergency Management Coalition is set to conduct a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program from February 8 through March 24, aimed at enhancing local disaster response capabilities. This initiative recognizes that during major disasters, first responders may be overwhelmed, necessitating community members to assist one another. Participants will receive training on local hazards, disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle emergencies. The program will take place on Thursday evenings at the Northshore Fire Department, culminating in a disaster simulation on March 24. With space limited to the first 30 applicants and a $35 course fee, local residents are encouraged to register soon.

This training not only fosters community resilience but also empowers individuals to make a significant impact during crises. For more information and registration details, interested parties can contact Carl Lunak, the Emergency Manager. The CERT program exemplifies a proactive approach to disaster readiness in the Kenmore and Lake Forest Park areas.
