Shoreline Tool Library offers more than tools

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Shoreline Tool Library is set to broaden its offerings by incorporating more than just tools, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Effective January 14, 2025, the library will accept donations of small furniture, children's items, and art supplies through partnerships with the Furniture Repair Bank, KidVantage, and Seattle ReCreative. This initiative is supported by a generous grant from King County Solid Waste's RE+ program, which has also enabled the library to significantly increase its operating hours from 12 to 30 hours per week. The extended hours aim to provide a larger donation window, facilitating greater community participation and support for local nonprofits. Furthermore, the library's Reused Materials Store will continue its mission of diverting materials from landfills and providing salvaged goods at affordable prices, promoting a circular economy.

As a key resource for the Shoreline area, the library empowers patrons to save money and reduce waste while fostering a sense of community. With these enhancements, the Shoreline Tool Library is poised to play a vital role in the local economy and sustainability efforts. The initiative highlights the importance of collaboration among local organizations to address pressing social and environmental issues.
