Student Program Funding Opportunity for STEM in Washington State

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Washington Research Foundation (WRF) has introduced a funding opportunity designed to bolster student programs at nonprofit colleges and universities in Washington state, particularly those focusing on STEM research and entrepreneurship. Eligible institutions can request funding of up to $50,000 per year for a duration of two years, with an emphasis on developing new or expanding existing programs. Applicants must demonstrate a clear alignment with WRF's mission, which aims to foster innovations in life sciences and enabling technologies. The foundation encourages projects that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, addressing the historical underrepresentation of certain groups in STEM fields. Notably, funding cannot be allocated for scholarships or tuition but can cover stipends, events, and essential research supplies.

The application process is ongoing, providing institutions with the flexibility to apply as they develop their proposals. This initiative not only aims to enhance educational outcomes for students but also to create a sustainable ecosystem for innovation in Washington state. By supporting these programs, WRF seeks to advance the capabilities of the next generation of STEM leaders.
