Karen Tynes passed away on October 9, 2025, in Shoreline, Washington, surrounded by loved ones after a long illness. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, she earned a fine arts degree from Millsaps College and later pursued careers in analytical chemistry and computer programming. Tynes became an integral part of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, launching community dinners that now serve 2,000 meals each month and leading various church programs. Her dedication to service also shone through her work at Calvary Episcopal Church in Memphis, where she received the Calvary Medal for her extensive outreach contributions.

Tynes is survived by her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild, reflecting her strong family ties. A memorial service will be held at her church on December 13, 2025, honoring her legacy of compassion and community involvement. Her commitment to helping others and her vibrant personality endeared her to many, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her. Tynes' life exemplified the spirit of service, making her a cherished figure in both Shoreline and Memphis communities.
