Veterans Day Celebration at Shoreline City Hall November 11, 2025

The Shoreline Veterans Association and City of Shoreline hosted their 19th annual Veterans Day celebration at City Hall on November 11, 2025. The program commenced with a “Call to Assembly” by Bugler Army Veteran James Kellett, followed by welcoming remarks from Air Force Veteran Larry Fischer. Local officials, including King County Councilman Rod Dembowski and Deputy Mayor Laura Mork, recited proclamations honoring veterans. Performances included the National Anthem by Miss Symphony Ames and "America the Beautiful," while Army Veteran Shirley Lovelace provided a symbolic explanation of a display for POWs and MIAs. The Around the Sound Community Band played a medley of military anthems, celebrating the contributions of all branches of the armed forces.

Air Force Veteran Doug Cerretti detailed the evolution of Heroes Café Shoreline, which has become the largest monthly gathering of veterans in King County since its inception during the pandemic. He emphasized the importance of community support for veterans, particularly those who have faced isolation. Attendees were reminded that Veterans Day should inspire year-round efforts to assist veterans in need.
