Shoreline Fire responded to two residential fires on Sunday

Shoreline, WALocal News

Shoreline Fire Department responded to two residential fires on November 2, 2025, underscoring the critical need for functional smoke alarms in homes. The first fire, occurring shortly after 10:00 AM, was caused by lithium-ion batteries charging inside a residence. Firefighters arrived promptly, extinguished the fire within 10 minutes, and successfully rescued the family’s dogs. In a second incident before 2:30 PM, a couch caught fire in the living room, resulting in the arrest of an individual by local law enforcement. Investigators from the King County Investigative Unit are examining the circumstances surrounding this fire.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident. These events highlight the importance of regular smoke alarm checks, as both homes lacked working alarms. Residents are urged to test alarms monthly and practice family evacuation plans for safety.
