Online surplus sales and auctions from King county, UW, Washington state, Seattle, Feds

Shoreline, WALocal News

King County Fleet Services has launched an online surplus auction, enabling the public to purchase gently used items such as furniture, bicycles, and small equipment like mowers and chainsaws. Since its launch in May, the auction has sold over 200 items and generated more than $30,000 in revenue, which supports both the Personal Property Surplus Program and county agencies in disposing of their assets. The auction features various goods, including electronics, construction supplies, and auto parts, accessible via GovDeals and the county’s Personal Property surplus site. This initiative not only provides the public with affordable options but also promotes sustainability by encouraging the reuse of county surplus items. The county aims to increase community engagement by making these goods available to residents.

Participating in the auction allows citizens to contribute to a more sustainable approach to county asset management. The move reflects a growing trend in local governments to promote transparency and accessibility in surplus sales. As the program evolves, county officials anticipate further revenue generation and community involvement.
