Lake Forest Park invites community members to its Community Clean Up Party at Blue Heron Park on November 9, 2025, from 9 a. m. to 12 p. m. Volunteers will engage in debris removal to kick off a restoration project focused on enhancing the park’s ecosystem.

The initiative will prioritize planting native species that attract pollinators and support local wildlife, particularly the salmon spawning in nearby McAleer Creek. A watering system will be established to ensure the survival of the new plants, with educational displays to inform visitors about their care. This collaborative effort involves multiple organizations, emphasizing community engagement in preserving local natural spaces. Blue Heron Park, originally privately owned, was acquired by the city in 1989 to promote open space. The park's development included a pedestrian bridge constructed in 2010, improving access to its scenic views.

This restoration project not only aims to beautify the park but also to strengthen its ecological integrity.
