Structure fire in Shoreline displaces tenant and pets

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Shoreline Fire extinguished a residential structure fire at 10:00 AM in the 17000 block of 8th Ave NE. Firefighters faced heavy flames venting from the second floor upon their arrival. They promptly rescued an occupant along with his pets, including a bunny and turtles, and extinguished the fire by 10:17 AM. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced tenant, and the building was red-tagged due to safety hazards. A fire investigation conducted by Shoreline Fire revealed an undetermined cause, with no working smoke alarms found in the residence.

Fortunately, neighbors made the 911 call, which facilitated the rapid response of emergency services. This incident underscores the importance of smoke alarms in residential safety. Local authorities emphasize the need for community awareness regarding fire safety measures.
