Project update SR 104 Ballinger Way Lyon Creek fish passage

Shoreline, WALocal News

On October 10, 2025, the SR 104 Lyon Creek fish passage project reached a pivotal moment as crews successfully redirected the creek through a new culvert. The new 24-foot-wide structure replaces a narrow box culvert, enhancing the creek's natural flow and restoring stream conditions. The project team, which includes environmental and biology specialists, has been working diligently since late August to prepare the site. SR 104 is expected to reopen to traffic by October 31, although sewer work on nearby streets will continue into November. Spring 2026 will see final paving and lane striping, aligning with favorable weather conditions.

This project is critical for local ecosystems and aims to improve fish passage in Lyon Creek. The ongoing work reflects a commitment to enhancing both environmental and transportation infrastructure in the region. As the project progresses, it highlights the importance of balancing development and ecological restoration.
