New security procedures when visiting Shoreline City Hall

Shoreline, WALocal News

Shoreline City Hall will enforce new security protocols starting October 15, 2025, requiring visitors to check in at the lobby desk for access to upper floors. The updated procedures include key card access for elevators, aimed at enhancing safety for both staff and visitors. Upon arrival, individuals must provide their name and purpose of visit to receive a visitor identification badge and a key card, which will permit entry to the necessary floors, including the Permit Center. This measure seeks to improve customer service by reducing confusion and eliminating the need for visitors to navigate between floors. Public art on the first and third floors will remain accessible, but third-floor visitors must still check in to view it.

The City did not disclose whether these changes are in response to any specific events or are simply a precautionary action. The implementation of these measures reflects a growing trend among public buildings to enhance security protocols. Such adjustments may help foster a safer environment for community members engaging with local government services.
