Overnight lane reductions on southbound I-5 in Seattle across the Ship Canal Bridge, October 6-9, 2025

Shoreline, WALocal News

Starting October 6 and ending October 10, 2025, southbound I-5 will be reduced to two lanes nightly for road preparations on the Ship Canal Bridge. Lane closures will begin at 10 PM and finish by 5 AM, with express lanes closing at 9 PM on October 6. This nighttime work is necessary for contractor crews from the Washington State Department of Transportation to prepare for six upcoming weekend lane reductions. The first of these weekend closures is scheduled to begin at 11 PM on October 10. Travelers are advised to expect delays during these times and should consider alternate routes.

Real-time travel updates are available through the WSDOT mobile app and the Travel Center Map. This project aims to improve drainage on the southbound lanes of the bridge, enhancing overall traffic flow and safety. Staying informed through email updates on the project can help commuters plan their trips effectively.
