QA Session on LFP Police and Public Safety Levy October 22, 2025

Shoreline, WALocal News

Lake Forest Park will hold two information sessions on October 18 and October 22 about a proposed six-year police and public safety levy for the November 2025 ballot. The City Council initiated this measure after a community survey revealed public safety as the top concern among residents. The levy proposes a rate of $0. 24 per $1,000 of assessed property value, effective in 2026, to support critical services like 911 dispatch and police staffing. Rising costs and a nearly 24% inflation rate over the last four years have made sustaining these services more challenging.

Furthermore, state law limits property tax revenue growth to just 1% annually, necessitating the levy for financial viability. Tax exemptions will be available for qualifying low-income seniors, disabled veterans, and residents with disabilities. Residents interested in more information can visit the city’s website or contact City Administrator Phillip Hill directly. The outcome of this levy could significantly impact public safety services in Lake Forest Park.
