Cross Country Shorecrest hosted meet at Hamlin Park
Shorecrest dominated the girls varsity/junior varsity race at Hamlin Park, with two sophomores taking the top spots. The boys' varsity race was one of the closest in Shorecrest history, as the team secured first place with 50 points, narrowly edging out Meadowdale and Kamiak. The scores were tightly contested, with Meadowdale finishing just one point behind and Kamiak following closely. In the boys junior varsity race, three Shorecrest runners made the top ten, helping the team achieve a second-place finish overall. The next meet is scheduled for October 4th at the Hoka 29th John Payne Cross Country Invitational in Tacoma, which will feature a record 122 high school teams.
This event highlights the growing popularity of cross country in the region. Coach Kelly Hjelle praised the team's spirit, athleticism, and perseverance throughout the competition. The results underscore Shorecrest's strong performance in high school athletics this season.
