Letter to the Editor Keeping our LFP community safe is a top priority

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Lake Forest Park City Council approved a resolution to place a police and public safety levy on the November ballot, reflecting community priorities for safety. Lake Forest Park ranks among the safest cities in Washington, but rising costs for essential services threaten this status. Investment in training, equipment, and mental crisis response programs is crucial, as these costs have outpaced city revenues. Officers, who are dedicated to serving their community, highlight the need for stable funding to maintain service levels over time. The city has relied on short-term financial fixes, which are unsustainable for long-term safety.

Residents will soon have the chance to vote on this significant measure. The police department will continue to work diligently to ensure community safety, regardless of the levy’s outcome. This decision underscores the importance of local governance in addressing public safety concerns.
