Burke Gilman Trail closure October 2 - November 7, 2025

Shoreline, WALocal News

King County Parks contractors will enhance the Burke Gilman Trail between October 2 and November 7, 2025, focusing on intersection improvements. The project will introduce ADA accessible warning surfaces, updated pavement markings, and the removal of bollards along the trail from Ballinger Way to 147th Ave in Lake Forest Park. A detour route will remain open for trail users at the Beach Drive intersection during construction. All other trail intersections will remain accessible, allowing users to navigate around work sites. These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety and accessibility for the growing number of trail users.

Historically, the Burke Gilman Trail serves as a vital corridor for cyclists and pedestrians in the region. Local residents have expressed support for the enhancements, recognizing the importance of safe access to recreational spaces. This initiative reflects King County’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and community well-being.
