75th Anniversary of a local institution

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Shoreline Elks Lodge commemorated its 75th anniversary on September 13, 2025, showcasing its enduring commitment to community service since its charter in 1950. With an annual contribution of approximately $40,000 to local charities, the lodge supports various causes, including youth scholarships and veterans' assistance. Chair Mike Thyng emphasized the lodge's role as a fraternal organization, dispelling the notion that it is merely a social club. The Washington Elks Children Therapy Services, established in 1954, exemplifies the lodge's dedication to helping children with developmental delays through free therapy. Raelynn Phillips, the lodge's Exalted Ruler, highlighted the increasing participation of younger members and the intergenerational nature of the organization.

Founding member James Bickford, now 98, remains actively involved, leading the lodge's Sunday Community Bingo. The lodge's motto, "Elks Care. Elks Share," reflects its mission to support the community. The event celebrated not only the lodge’s history but also its future contributions to the region.
