Attention EdmondsKingston commuters Construction delays in Kingston

Shoreline, WALocal News

A ferry traffic lane project will commence next week on State Route 104, impacting Edmonds/Kingston ferry commuters. Crews will install a stoplight system at Lindvog Road Northeast, which will detect when vehicles can proceed in the ferry line, alongside new kiosks dispensing boarding passes. Work hours are set from 8 am to 6 pm, Tuesday through Friday, leading to alternating one-way traffic and occasional full stops in both directions. This construction aims to enhance traffic management and alleviate congestion near the ferry terminal. Local officials emphasize the importance of planning for delays during this construction period.

The project is anticipated to wrap up by winter, improving the overall commuter experience. In 2024, ferry traffic saw significant increases, making this upgrade crucial for accommodating higher volumes. Enhanced traffic systems may lead to a smoother flow for daily ferry users in the future.
