Shorecrest cross country teams compete in spite of wasps and lightning 9-6-2025
The Shorecrest cross country team faced severe weather and insect challenges during the Tahoma CoEd Relays on September 6, 2025, at Lake Wilderness. Lightning caused a 30-minute race delay, while multiple runners suffered wasp stings, testing their resolve. Despite these setbacks, the athletes displayed remarkable determination and camaraderie as they completed the race. The team's first official meet is set for September 10 at McCollum Park in South Everett, where they will compete against Archbishop Murphy, Mountlake Terrace, and Monroe at 3:45 PM. This meet is crucial as it will serve as an early indicator of their performance for the season.
The athletes aim to leverage their experience from the jamboree to enhance their teamwork and competitiveness. The challenges faced at the relays could strengthen their resolve moving forward. Local support for the team remains strong as they prepare for upcoming events.
