Shorecrest senior Lucia Shadduck embarked on a transformative journey through the Rotary Youth Exchange program, spending four weeks in France this summer. She traveled from Seattle to Nantes, where she stayed with Clotilde Pocheron's family, gaining firsthand insight into French culture. Lucia described the immersion in the French language as both challenging and rewarding, highlighting her enjoyment of speaking French and trying local foods. Clotilde later joined Lucia's family in the Pacific Northwest, where she relished new experiences like riding in a golf cart and learning to waterski. Their families formed strong connections, sharing updates and bonding over their daughters' adventures.

The Rotary Youth Exchange Program, which connects students aged 15-18, is well-organized and encourages cultural understanding. Both families strongly recommend the program, emphasizing its positive impact on the participants. By visiting Rotary club meetings, Lucia and Clotilde aim to inspire others to explore international exchange opportunities.
