Construction of new buildings at Fircrest

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Fircrest Master Development Plan outlines the construction of a nursing facility, laundry, and a 48-bed behavioral health unit on the campus. The nursing facility, spanning 126,808 square feet, will house 120 residents in two wings, with 60 residents in each wing across three floors. A new 6,336 square foot laundry building has begun construction at the north side of the site, replacing one of the Y-Buildings. The behavioral health unit is designed to provide secure treatment for individuals committed involuntarily for up to six months, but funding for this facility has not yet been secured. Demolition at the site is complete, allowing construction to proceed.

Facilities Manager Steve Hardy shared an aerial photo of the site, highlighting the project's scope and new road infrastructure connecting to the campus. The development reflects a commitment to improving care for individuals with disabilities and enhancing facility operations. Local officials continue to seek funding to ensure the behavioral health unit's timely completion.
