AGs secure federal education funding previously threatened by Trump administration

Shoreline, WALocal News

Washington Attorney General Nick Brown announced a successful agreement that requires the Trump administration to release $137 million in federal education funding for Washington schools. This funding freeze jeopardized essential K-12 programs just weeks before the school year commenced. The U. S. Department of Education must disburse the funds by October 3 as stipulated in the agreement.

Brown joined a coalition of 23 states and the District of Columbia in suing the Trump administration to end the illegal freeze on education programs. The lawsuit, led by California, Colorado, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, aimed to protect educational resources for students. Brown emphasized the bipartisan nature of the effort, underscoring the shared commitment to student success. Additionally, the agreement restores over $13 million for adult education and workforce development initiatives. This resolution highlights the importance of timely funding for educational programs and the collaborative efforts to secure it.
