Fred Meyer adds charging stations for EV

Shoreline, WALocal News

Fred Meyer has introduced three electric vehicle charging stations in its Shoreline parking lot, making it the second local business to provide public charging options alongside Trader Joe's. Erin O'Connor, a local reader, reported that charging at Fred Meyer costs $22, indicating that these chargers are not free. Trader Joe's features ten Tesla Superchargers, which also charge fees, while Shoreline City Hall has free, slower Level 2 chargers powered by a solar system that has been operational for 7-8 years. In addition, Safeway offers two free Level 2 chargers, while the six chargers at Shoreline Community College are not free. The presence of these charging stations reflects the growing shift towards electric vehicles and the need for accessible charging infrastructure.

The local government and businesses are responding to this demand, which may encourage more residents to consider electric vehicles. As electric vehicle adoption increases, the expansion of charging stations will be crucial for supporting sustainable transportation options in the region.
