September 2, 2025 all lanes of SR 104 Ballinger Way will close near 35th NE for five weeks

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close all lanes of SR 104 near 35th Avenue NE for five weeks starting September 2, 2025. This closure is necessary for removing the existing culvert and installing a larger replacement structure, along with streambed and habitat improvements. Local access on Ballinger Way NE will remain open up to just west of 35th Avenue NE. The contractor has already completed sanitary sewer upgrades and the demolition of the former Ballinger Automotive building as part of the SR 104/Lyon Creek Fish Passage Project. A detour will redirect eastbound and westbound traffic via 35th Avenue NE and NE 190th Street during the closure.

WSDOT emphasizes the importance of this project for environmental sustainability and infrastructure enhancement. The improvements will facilitate better fish passage and habitat conditions in Lyon Creek. Community members are encouraged to stay informed about ongoing developments and impacts.
