Coffee with State Representative Lauren Davis

State Representative Lauren Davis emphasized her bipartisan legislative efforts during a recent interview about the 2025 session. She successfully sponsored two key bills: the Domestic Violence Co-Responder bill (HB 1498), which pairs law enforcement with advocates, and the Certified Peer Support Specialists bill (SHB 1427), designed to enhance mental health treatment access. The Domestic Violence Co-Responder bill is funded by a $100 fee on marriage licenses and aims to provide immediate support to survivors at domestic violence scenes. Davis, who represents the 32nd district, highlighted the importance of having trained advocates available 24/7 to improve engagement with victims. She acknowledged the funding limitations faced by local police departments and advocated for regional approaches to resource allocation.

The bills reflect her commitment to enhancing human services and addressing urgent community needs. Davis has been re-elected four times since 2018, showcasing her ongoing influence in Washington state politics.
