LFP Council Leadership message to the Lake Forest Park community about the levy lid lift

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Lake Forest Park City Council canceled a special meeting scheduled for August 4, 2025, aimed at discussing the levy lid lift. After passing Resolution 25-2021 on July 10, the Council anticipated community engagement regarding the levy rate. With the August 5 filing deadline looming, they sought to gauge public opinion but found that broad consensus was unattainable. As a result, they opted to cancel the meeting, allowing the approved resolution for a $0. 24 per $1,000 levy increase to stand.

This measure will be voted on in November, providing residents a chance to weigh in. Council leadership thanked city staff for their efforts and apologized for any confusion stemming from the cancellation. The Council emphasizes its commitment to listening to community concerns and building consensus. The situation highlights the complexities local governments face in balancing timely decision-making with community input.
