The Twin Ponds Community Garden might be the most perfect community project ever

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Twin Ponds Community Garden in Shoreline thrives thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers who cultivate a variety of vegetables and herbs. Established in 2012 on city-owned land, the garden includes 54 plots available for rent by local residents at an affordable price of $55 per year. Susan Westphal, who has volunteered for five years, coordinates activities and ensures food donations reach the Lake City Food Bank and Shoreline Senior Center. This year, the garden anticipates donating 2,500 pounds of fresh produce to those in need. Community support is strong, with local businesses like Starbucks and Home Depot providing essential resources.

Volunteers, including high school students, contribute significantly by weeding and caring for the plants. The garden not only feeds local families but also promotes a culture of kindness and generosity among its members. By engaging the community, the Twin Ponds garden exemplifies a successful local initiative that fosters sustainability and support.
