Big Blood Donation Weekend coming at beginning of August

Shoreline, WALocal News

Seasonal blood shortages increase during summer, a trend worsened this year by floods in Texas and New Jersey that disrupted blood donation drives. Bloodworks NW aims to replenish supplies by hosting three Emergency Drives in Shoreline, WA, during the first weekend of August. The drives will occur at Shoreline Fire Station 61 and Shoreline Covenant Church on August 1, and a bloodmobile will be stationed at Town & Country Market on August 4. Walk-ups will be accepted based on available space, and donors can also make same-day appointments. Individuals aged 16 and 17 who weigh over 125 pounds may donate with written parental permission, and all donors must bring a photo ID.

This initiative is crucial as natural disasters have significantly impacted the national blood supply. Local community members are encouraged to participate actively and spread the word through social media to maximize donations. Supporting these drives can save lives and strengthen community resilience in the face of challenges.
