Update on the parks being improved constructed from the 2022 Parks Bond

Shoreline, WALocal News

Shoreline is implementing significant park enhancements following the approval of Proposition 1 by voters in February 2022. Eight parks, including Hamlin and Brugger’s Bog, will undergo capital improvements, with Hamlin Park’s upper parking lot closed until summer 2026 due to ongoing construction. Planned upgrades at Hamlin include new walkways and public art, while Brugger’s Bog will be closed from August 2025 to fall 2026 for major renovations, which will add a multi-sport court and restrooms. Richmond Highlands Park is set to reopen in September, featuring improved walking paths and a sensory garden. James Keough Park will also see a reopening in October with new play equipment and an off-leash dog area.

The construction at Hamlin Park prompted a redesign to protect a significant Douglas Fir tree, slightly reducing parking space. Public engagement for Edwin Pratt Memorial Park is scheduled for August, indicating future development plans. Funding for the design phase of additional parks is secured, but construction will depend on future financial support.
