Trans Artist and Advocate Paul von Bex completes residency at RB Saltwater Park

Paul von Bex concluded their residency at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, with a final presentation set for July 17, 2025, from 6-8 PM. Throughout their residency, Paul drew inspiration from the park's landscape and wildlife, working with various mediums such as pen, pastel, and photography. Identifying as queer, trans, and BIPOC, Paul advocates for queer liberation and social justice, aiming to resist oppression through their art. They consider themselves a “re-emerging” artist due to past challenges with marginalization and chronic health issues. Paul holds degrees in Visual Anthropology and Film & Media Arts, along with a background in visual communications.

Their work has been recognized at film festivals, and they have received awards for animation. This residency offered a vital opportunity for Paul to engage with the public and enhance their artistic practice in a nurturing environment. The Saltwater Park Artist Residency program supports artists in creating new work while fostering community engagement.
