Implementation of Fircrest master development plan takes down trees along 15th NE

Shoreline, WALocal News

The Fircrest School master development plan is advancing with upgrades to internal roads and the construction of a new skilled nursing facility, which will have 120 beds. Authorized by the Washington State Legislature, this facility will offer critical services to residents at the Residential Habilitation Center, overseen by DDA. Frontage improvements along 15th NE required the removal of numerous mature evergreen trees, though a commitment to replace them on a one-to-one basis has been made. Project managers from Kiewit Corporation have ensured that notices were placed on all trees before removal. These upgrades aim to enhance the quality of care and support for residents.

The development signifies a significant investment in community health infrastructure. The modernization efforts stem from a broader initiative to improve facilities and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Such projects reflect the state's commitment to providing comprehensive care to vulnerable populations.
